Actor and TV teacher Bill Nye, “The Science Guy,” is set to square off in a Feb. 9 debate against Answers in Genesis — USA founder Ken Ham, at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., founded by Ham to advocate for the Old Testament account of creation.
In a recent wire service interview, Nye said: “If we raise a generation of students who don’t believe in the process of science, who think everything that we’ve cone to know about nature and the universe can be dismissed by a few sentences translated into English from some ancient text, you’re not going to continue to innovate.” “I say to grown-ups: If you want to deny evolution and live in your world, in your world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe, that’s fine. But don’t make your kids, because we need them.”
A few verses came to my mind when I read this. Seems to me that the devil is up to his same old tricks trying to not only steal our souls but our children’s.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (notice it does not say the way the child wants to go or the way the world wants the child to go)
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (our children)
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (listen to how quickly they call us Christians “closed minded”, while they are denying the Word of God.)
And of course we cannot forget the very first verse in the Bible.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Proverbs 14:25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Romans 3:3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
