Jesus Loves Me, This I Know
“14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21
Paul’s prayer for the believers at Ephesus was that they might know “the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,…” God’s Word tells us to know the extent of His love, but His love passes our knowledge. The most familiar verse in the Bible tells us of God’s amazing love. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) For many this verse was embedded in memory many years ago and God can bring it front and center to remind us of His great love. Many more learned of God’s love as babies with this little song by William B. Bradbury.
“Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me,
The Bible tells me so.”
You may have sung this song as a child. Can you still sing with assurance today, “Jesus loves me! this I know”
