So thankful to be serving a risen, living Lord!! Karen Icenhour
Death Didn’t Hold Him
The Lord died on the cross to pay for our sin,
Providing the Way for us to come to Him;
It was all a part of God’s perfect plan,
With more love than we can understand!
It was a time of great sorrow and gloom,
As His beaten body was placed in the tomb;
Satan thought he won, & God’s Son was dead,
In a short time, circumstances turn his head!
Death didn’t hold Him more than three days,
After this time, the tombstone rolled away;
There was no question, whether or not,
For within the tomb was the Son of God!
He’s the King of Kings, still living today,
The tomb is empty, where our Saviour laid;
He’s the only One to watch that stone move,
Astounding Satan by what God’s power can do!
**Easter 2017

The Message Of Easter
The message of Easter began upon the cross,
On Calvary, where Jesus died for all the lost;
He shed His blood, & died to pay for our sin,
Then after three days, He was living again!
The message of Easter, given by God’s hand,
Is a thing not achieved by any other man,
We’ve seen false prophets along the way,
Jesus Christ is the only living Lord today!
The message of Easter is righteous & Divine,
With love, forgiveness, and peace of mind;
So thankful the tomb couldn’t keep Him in,
He arose, as God said, to save us from sin!
The message of Easter is still alive & well,
Our risen Lord keeps our soul from Hell;
He lived, died, & arose after three days,
Only His blood allows men to be saved!

Junior had just received his brand new drivers license. To celebrate, the whole family trooped out to the driveway and climbed into the car for his inaugural drive. Dad immediately headed to the back seat, directly behind the newly minted driver.

“I’ll bet you’re back there to get a change of scenery after all those months of sitting in the front passenger seat teaching me how to drive,” said the beaming boy to his ol’ man.

“Nope,” came dad’s reply, “I’m gonna sit here and kick the back of your seat as you drive, just like you’ve been doing to me for sixteen years.”

The room was full of pregnant women and their partners, and the Lamaze class was in full swing. The instructor was teaching the women how to breathe properly, along with informing the men how to give the necessary assurances at this stage of the plan.

The teacher then announced, “Ladies, exercise is good for you. Walking is especially beneficial. And, gentlemen, it wouldn’t hurt you to take the time to go walking with your partner!”

The room really got quiet. Finally, a man in the middle of the group raised his hand.

“Yes?” replied the teacher.

“Is it all right if she carries a golf bag while we walk?”

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, “I’ll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your bible a little and get your hair cut and we’ll talk about it.”
After about a month, the boy came back and again asked his father, if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father’s study where his father said, “Son, I’ve been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you’ve studied your bible diligently, but you didn’t get your hair cut.”

The young man waited a moment and replied, “You know Dad, I’ve been thinking about that. You know, Samsom had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair!”, to which is father replied, “Yes, you’re right, and they also WALKED every where they went!”

The Resurrection

1 Corinthians 15:12 – 19

Opening Argument

Let me say it as strongly as the Apostle Paul said it in 1 Corinthians 15:17: “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.” The Resurrection is either one of the most wicked, heartless, vicious hoaxes ever or it is the most fantastic fact of history.

I will show you overwhelming proof that Jesus Christ did exactly what He predicted He would do — that on the third day He rose from the dead. Acts 1:3 states that “To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:”

I. Exhibit A: The Empty Tomb

1. The Bible teaches that after the executioners crucified Jesus, His body was placed in a solid rock tomb.
2. His body was covered with spices.
3. It was wrapped in strips of linen cloth.
4. A very large stone, estimated to weigh about 2 tons, was then rolled in front of the entrance to the tomb.
5. 16 Roman soldiers was assigned to secure the tomb.
6. Matthew 27:66 tells us that in addition to the Roman guard, they put a tamper-proof official Roman seal on the stone.

Anyone who happened to make it past the Roman soldiers would then have to break this seal, thus incurring the wrath of the Roman law.

In spite of all these precautions – the stone, the soldiers, and the seal – the tomb was empty that first Easter morning!

When the first people arrived to look in, they saw only one thing: the blood-stained burial cloths, as if Jesus had materialized right through them.

The empty tomb serves as Exhibit A. It is a powerful testimony to the Resurrection of Jesus.

Critics down through the years have not been able to refute the empty tomb.
Instead they’ve come up with other possibilities. Maybe the disciples stole the body? But this seems far-fetched when you consider that this group of cowards would have had to overpower armed soldiers, roll away a two-ton boulder, dispose of the body, and then manufacture a myth about His resurrection — a myth that they gave their lives for. That doesn’t seem possible.

II. Exhibit B: Multiple Witnesses

The early Christians did not believe Jesus had risen just because of the empty tomb — they believed because they saw Him with their own eyes.

When they talked to others about Jesus, they did not say, “We found an empty tomb,” instead, they said, “We saw Jesus alive!”

The most outstanding proof that Jesus rose from the dead is that more than 515 eyewitnesses saw him on 12 different occasions.

Acts 1:3 says that, “To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:” He appeared to them over a period of 40 days and spoke about the kingdom of God.”

Jesus gave unquestionable proof that He was alive!

  1. After His resurrection, He made an appearance to a woman in the cemetery.
  2. Later that same day, He walked through a closed door and talked with his frightened followers who were huddled in Jerusalem.
  3. In the evening, he walked side by side with two men as they made their way down a road.
  4. He appeared to believers and doubters; to tough-minded people and tenderhearted souls.

Several people saw Him on more than one occasion, some alone, and some with large groups; sometimes at night and sometimes during the day. The apostle Paul, when writing a letter to a group of new Christians, laid it all out in 1 Corinthians 15:4-8: “And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.”

III. Exhibit C: Changed Lives

1. Those who met the Resurrected Jesus have had their lives totally transformed.
2. The Resurrection is validated by the changed lives of His followers.
3. Something happened to change this original group of followers.
4. After Jesus was put to death, the disciples scattered. The Bible tells us that they were gathered in a locked room on the top floor of a building. They were filled with fear.
Jesus has changed my life. And, from talking to many of you, I know that He has changed yours as well. His life-changing power is just as available to us today as it was to that group of frightened followers on Easter Sunday night.

Blessed to Bless Others

By Dr. Charles Stanley

Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly (Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-15)

God’s blessings to us are not meant to end with us. His desire is that they flow to others. This principle applies in all areas of life, including finances. Did you know that our heavenly Father has plans for your money?

The Lord graciously provides for our needs and even our wants. But He also wants us to use our money to achieve His plans. And one of His goals is that we share our resources with others.

Just look at His extravagant promise in verse 8 of today’s passage: “And God is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that, always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.”

Sharing blessings with others will never lead to deprivation. In fact, the Lord promises to increase the harvest of our righteousness and enrich us in everything in response to our generosity. We can never outgive God.

A hoarded blessing won’t ever be enjoyed as richly as a shared one. Using your gift to meet someone else’s need glorifies God by demonstrating His grace at work in your life.

Don’t let His generous provisions end with you. Pass them on and discover the joy of a never-ending cycle of blessings.

In The End, Jesus Wins

In the end, Jesus wins everything He does,
Including the Way He watches over us;
The devil will try to lure us into sin,
If we plead the blood, he runs away then!

In the end, Jesus wins over death & sin,
Crucified for the lost to be born again;
After His death, He was laid in the grave,
Then after three days, the stone rolled away!

In the end, Jesus wins, and He always will,
Following His Way makes our life fulfilled;
Bread for the hungry, Water for our thirst,
Sweet blessings come if He is kept first!

In the end, we win, belonging to Him,
He removes us from sickness, sorrow & sin;
The devil will go to Hell where he belongs,
We go to Heaven, where nothing goes wrong!

Abundant Pardon

Abundant pardon is what we receive,
He cleanses us the day we believe;
He removes our reservation in Hell,
Coming inside, He makes our heart well!

Abundant pardon comes to all the saved,
Whose sins are forgiven & washed away;
God casts our sins behind His own back,
He never reminds our heart of the past!

Abundant pardon God gives to all men,
Who turn from sin, giving their life to Him;
He writes our name within the book of Life,
When we are saved by the blood of Christ!

Abundant pardon is more than we deserve,
He saves us, then blesses us thru His Word;
Before long, we’ll hear the trumpet sound,
Our pardon also makes us Heaven bound!

Sealed By His Love

We’re sealed by His love, unending & pure,
No matter what we face, it will endure;
God oversees our life from on His throne,
He lovingly gives us strength to go on!

We’re sealed by His love, blessed by His grace,
He walks beside us in each step we take;
He lifts us up if life might knock us down,
Fellowship with God gives peace that abounds!

We’re sealed by His love, the day we’re saved,
When Jesus’ blood washes our sin away;
It was sealed upon Calvary’s rugged cross,
Where God sent His Son to die for the lost!

We’re sealed by His love, in each day we live,
Rich & unselfish is how our Father gives;
He wraps us in His arm for being His child,
Working by love has always been His style!

Sheltered & Secure

Sheltered & secure, we will always be,
As the Father we serve meets all our needs;
If storm clouds arise, as they sometimes will,
There’s love in His voice, saying, Peace be still!

Sheltered & secure, we are in God’s hand,
It’s His loving grace helping us to stand;
He won’t put on us more than we can face,
But gives us strength by His loving grace!

Sheltered & secure is what we became,
He came inside as we called on His name,
He won’t reject or keep one from the fold,
That’s why His Spirit speaks to lost souls!

Sheltered & secure, Heaven is our Home,
God works with us each day our life goes on;
Oh what a wonderful day it will be,
When we bow at His feet for eternity!

A hunting party, hopelessly lost in the mountains, blamed their guide for leading them astray.

“You told us you were the best guide in Colorado!” they cried.

“I am,” he said, “but I think we’re in Wyoming now.”

We were at a red light when a car pulled up, its music blasting.

“He’ll be deaf before he’s 25,” I said.

“That won’t help us,” my wife replied. “He’ll only turn it up.”
